Tirana - Saranda - Corfu

Via Albania

A preasent option to travel to Corfu is via Albania.

From the airport in Tirana, you can take the local bus to the city bus terminal, and from there to Saranda.
Saranda offers ferry and Flying Dolphin to the harbour of Corfu town.

From Tirana Airport, you can take a taxi to the bus terminal for 20€, or you can take the Luna Travel bus for 4€.

The fair is 4€, you can can pay with cash on the bus. In Normal traffic the ride is about 25 minutes.

The bus stop close to the bus terminal is here, it’s the first stop. The bus then continues to Tirana center.

From the bus-stop, there is about 5 min walk. Over the roundabout and through the tunnel. Cross the street and keep left.
They are currently  doung construction work. You need to pass Hotel Doanesia Premium Hotel & Spa, and then walk up to the right

From here you travel by bus to Saranda.

Gjirafa Travel

You buy the ticket online and you get an pdf-ticket with a QR-code. When you arrive to the bus terminal, you show the QR-code in the little booth, seen on the picture. They then issue a paper ticket and show you where to find the bus.

 

After about 2,5 hours, the bus stops for a 15 minutes break. Usually at Autogrill24Autogrill24

Traveling with the bus to Saranda takes approximately 4h 45m, stop included.

The bus stops outside Gjirafa Travel Agency, about 5 minutes of walk to Saranda harbour.

Saranda is a nice little town with small shops, a lot of restaurants and coffee shops.

TRAVEL TO CORFU

There are many ways to get to Corfu.

In the summer months, there are more direct flights to Corfu. In winter, you may have to change flights to get there. Sometimes I take the flight to Thessaloniki. From there there are buses to Corfu, but I usually rent a car. Car rentals are much cheaper off season. But then again, you need to add on the fair for the ferry. About 50€ with an return ticket.

Fly to Corfu

Corfu Airport is situated just next to the city of Krekyra, Corfu Town.

This ia a very effective little airport that is very busy in summer. There are taxis and rental cars just outside. You can take the bus to the city or the main bus terminal, from where you can go with bus all over the island.

There are many areal companies flying to Corfu. Ryanair, TUI, Aegean, EasyJet and so many moore.

You might want to try Kiwi fo find a flight. I usually serrch there, but then book directly with the areal company.

Bus to Corfu

Going by bus to Corfu ia a good option as the buses go all the way to Corfu Town, including ferry!

Lefkimmi or Kerkyra

Ferry to Corfu

There are two main harbours on Corfu; Lefkimmi and Corfu Port at the city of Kerkyra. There are ferries going here from the manland and the town of Igoumenitsa.

Lefkimmi is located on the sothern tip and have its own ferries. The ferries also take cars. Driving to Kerkyra town from Lefkommi, takes about 1h. The ferry company ias Lefkimmi Lines. The route takes about 50 minutes.

To go to Corfu port, you need to choose Corfu Ferries. The route also go to the island of Paxos. The route takes about 90 minutes.

You can also go to Corfu Port with Kerkyra Lines. Also this ferry takes 90 minutes.

If you go by car, you must fill in your registration number upon booking. So if you have a rental, you need to wait to book until you get the car.

The biggest marina is D-Marin Gouvia Marina, they have a guest harbour and it´s situated not very far from the city. You can easily take a bus or taxi to Corfu Town.

Train to Corfu

Corfu doesn´t have any railroad and there are no railoroad close on the mainland either.

As you can see here on this map, the railroad mainly connects Athens and Thessaloniki.
The closest you can get is the town Kalampáka and from there there are still 170 km to Igoumenitsa.
